The Stick
The use of walking sticks is important for excursionists during their incursions through the mountains; however it is also frequent to see the basic elements for their use and care are ignored. The use of sticks offers many advantages for the yield and safety of the mountain’s sportsman. Some of them are:

- Balance improvement: it eases a better balance in the movement upon four supportive points thus favouring the safety of the excursionist’s displacement.
- Avoids lesions on the knee and ankles: it transfers part of the load, legs are receiving to the arms and the exerted pressure upon the knees and ankles is greatly reduced. The use of sticks also minimizes the possibility of suffering from sprained ankles or decreases the seriousness of it in case it happens.
- Safety at the Mountain: We could be helped or prevent from any lesion due to fatigue or accident in case of a lesion and also sticks can help us to get out of the mountain using them as a supportive device.
- It improves the yield: during long and demanding ascents, load is distributed from the legs to the arms, thus load and energy use is administered even better due to a greater number of muscles thus improving yield.
